Rising Seas Predicted to Overtake U.S. Coasts Within a Century

Ultimately, rising seas will likely swamp the first American settlement in Jamestown, Va., as well as the Florida launch pad that sent the first American into orbit, many climate scientists are predicting.

In about a century, some of the places that make America what it is may be slowly erased.

Global warming — through a combination of melting glaciers, disappearing ice sheets and warmer waters expanding — is expected to cause oceans to rise by one meter, or about 39 inches. It will happen regardless of any future actions to curb greenhouse gases, several leading scientists say. And it will reshape the nation.

Rising waters will lap at the foundations of old money Wall Street and the new money towers of Silicon Valley. They will swamp the locations of big city airports and major interstate highways.

Storm surges worsened by sea level rise will flood the waterfront getaways of rich politicians — the Bushes' Kennebunkport and John Edwards' place on the Outer Banks. And gone will be many of the beaches in Texas and Florida favored by budget-conscious students on Spring Break. (source)

That's the troubling outlook projected by coastal maps reviewed by The Associated Press. The maps, created by scientists at the University of Arizona, are based on data from the U.S. Geological Survey.
Ultimately....who gives a damn... as 100 years from now none of us will be around, nor will our children- and a Clinton will probably still be in the Whitehouse!!
Get a life you morons, all of this is speculation fueled by politics, money, special interests and science fiction !!!!

Mexican curriculum in Oregon schools stirs debate

Some Oregon high schools are adopting Mexico's public school curriculum to help educate Spanish-speaking students with textbooks, an online Web site, DVDs and CDs provided free by Mexico to teach math, science and even U.S. history.

The Oregon Department of Education and Mexico's Secretariat of Public Education are discussing aligning their curricula so courses will be valid in both countries.

Similar ventures are under way in Yakima, Wash., San Diego, Calif., and Austin, Texas.
"Students come to us with such complex issues," said Tim King, director of Clackamas Middle College and Clackamas Web Academy, where a virtual course using Mexico's learning materials got started this week.

"We've had to change in order to fit into each school scene, become more complex and open ourselves up to new situations."

Oregon officials say the approach is intended as a supplement to keep students learning in Spanish while also gaining English skills.
Oh I don't know, how about these students take themselves and their extended families and their "complex" issues and return to their own country and quit ruining our lives!!!

A MAD WOMAN

WASHINGTON - Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton said Tuesday that a mandate requiring every American to purchase health insurance was the only way to achieve universal health care but she rejected the notion of punitive measures to force individuals into the health care system.
"At this point, we don't have anything punitive that we have proposed," the presidential candidate said in an interview with The Associated Press. "We're providing incentives and tax credits which we think will be very attractive to the vast majority of Americans."

She said she could envision a day when "you have to show proof to your employer that you're insured as a part of the job interview — like when your kid goes to school and has to show proof of vaccination," but said such details would be worked out through negotiations with Congress.
IS SHE OUT OF HER FREAKING MIND? PUNITIVE MEASURES...PROOF FOR WORKING??!!

OPPS OR A ENGINEERED MOVE?

LOS ANGELES — Some say racy new pictures of “High School Musical” star Vanessa Hudgens may have assassinated her adolescent-market appeal ... but big-wigs in the entertainment industry predict they will simply send her fame flying.

“Did anybody really know or care about Paris Hilton before her sex tape surfaced?” a high-profile television executive told FOXNews.com. “This scandal is making her a household name — it will definitely elevate her into real star-studded status.”

And while the 18-year-old may not be interested in posing for Playboy or galloping in “Girls Gone Wild," a leading Hollywood entertainment agent believes Vanessa will earn big bucks from purely professional fashion endorsements, appearances and shows. (source)
Was her "released" photo a mistake or planned as some sort of crafty ploy to get her attention grabbing headlines....hmmmm?
Crafty little minx I think.

THEY WERE EXPLOITING HER ??

NEW YORK — Kanye West blames MTV for Britney Spears' less than stellar performance at the Video Music Awards.

"Man, they were just trying to get ratings, and they knew she wasn't ready and they exploited her," the 29-year-old rapper said Tuesday on Sirius Satellite Radio's "The Morning Mash Up."

The network made a "bad move" by having the troubled pop star open Sunday's event in Las Vegas, said West, who feels he should have kicked off the show with "Stronger," the first single from his new album, "Graduation."

"They exploited her, they played me and I really don't mess with MTV," he said.
Oh grow up mister as you didn't get any awards....you Sea Monkey.
